Short Description

From the 23rd through the 29th of July, NEUE DRINGLICHKEIT will be working in Venice based on the ideas of Guy Debord’s works “The Society of the Spectacle” and “Rapport on the Construction of Situations”. The collective will “psycho-geographically” explore Venice and its relationship to global capitalism, parasitically appropriating the alleys and canals, mimicking and distorting the production and consumation of the “Spectacle”. These experiments will be recorded and the results will be presented with music, wine and food at Z Club, a collateral event of the Architecture Biennale Venice.
The collective NEUE DRINGLICHKEIT (nD) www.nd-blog.org moves between the borders of „arts“, „politics“ and „life“ and tries to reflect and question the framework of those disciplines and in doing so to soften and to break them open. In alternating constellations the collective develops among other things workshops, interventions, festivals and theater projects. It evolved during a spontaneous festival against xenophobia in Switzerland in 2010 at the „Department for Performance Art and Film“at the Zurich University of Arts. Currently they are part of the research in residence program.
